When I talked in my Prompt #1
Breaking Assumptions, I said some interior designer don’t quite have talent or
don’t like to use the manual drafting ability when designing a home or an
interior furniture, but they at least have to demonstrate their talent in the graphic
area for the portfolio, because it is a crucial thing for success in the
career.
Making a portfolio for this field
involves selecting a variety of different projects that you are most proud of
and that demonstrate a range of different projects you have worked on, that
include visual and graphic in form of photos with a brief biography and resume
that tells the client about yourself and your work.
Steps to make a well-done
portfolio:
- First of all you need to compile
a thorough and up-to-date resume for your interior design portfolio.
- Then create a statement of
purpose or vision that briefly defines who you are as a designer.
- Include a variety of photos,
designs and sketches that show your ideas, style and former design projects.
- Lay out the portfolio carefully,
leaving space between pictures or compiling them so they are pleasing to the
eye!
- Compile all you information into
a book format and then you’re all done!
Here I am going to show you part
of some sketches that I’ve drawn when I was in high school that I consider in
putting in my portfolio:
Creating a well-organized professional interior design portfolio is a way to put your best foot forward.
